"The
Red Hat Society began as a result of a few women deciding to greet
middle age with verve, humor and elan. We believe silliness is the
comedy relief of life, and since we are all in it together, we might
as well join red-gloved hands and go for the gusto together.
Underneath the frivolity, we share a bond of affection, forged by
common life experiences and a genuine enthusiasm for wherever life
takes us next."
Founder Queen Mother Sue Ellen Cooper,
The
Red Hat Society is not a sorority or a voluntary service club.
The society fondly
refers to itself as a "dis-organization" with the aim of social
interaction, and to encourage fun, silliness, creativity, and
friendship in middle age and beyond. The society takes its name from
the opening lines of the poem
Warning by Jenny Joseph, which
starts:
When I am an old woman I shall wear purple…
We're all about celebrating life! Enjoying the good fellowship of our Girl Friends,
Taking time to enjoy simpler things,
Laughing till it hurts and
Dancing like no one is watching!
We are an official chapter of the Red Hat
Society, located in Asheville
North Carolina.
If you would like to know more about this world-wide phenomenon of
crazy ladies, then please contact us for more info! We'd
